5/14/12 Training

Today’s run was 7.251 miles in 1:00:31.  Allowing for some extra recovery from yesterday’s long run and enjoying time with the kids in the evening, the run was pushed off until tonight on the treadmill.  Not much to comment about the run itself, the challenge was simply to get the mileage completed.

During the run I finished watching Rocky II and started watching Rocky III.  Just like the original movie, the fight scenes are a great motivator.  Almost every sport is compared to a good heavyweight match which swings back and forth, and running is no different.  It certainly brings out the competitive side and teaches you never to give up or in.

I’m hoping to push 70 miles this week.  I will need at least one day with two runs, if not two days.  At least tonight’s run gave me a good start on this week’s goal.
