Yesterday’s run was a much improved effort at a tempo run compared to last week. Even though I still want to make the faster part of the run faster, yesterday’s run felt like I was on the right path again. It was 4.9 miles in 35:02. The quicker part of the run contained the following mile splits: 6:37, 6:41, and 6:35. As said earlier, I would like to get those splits down to 6:15 or faster.
The encouraging part of the run was the faster part felt under control. A faster pace but controlled – not feeling like I was trying to sprint the whole way. This is the type of feeling and control you want in a marathon. Hopefully the combination of these quicker paced mid-week runs and longer weekend runs will help build that feeling over longer and longer distances.
