10/3/12 Training

Training Run Summary
Distance: 4 miles
Time: 33:04
Pace: 8:16/mile

Yesterday’s run was a slower paced run after Tuesday’s quicker run. Once again, it was on the treadmill. One change was that the run was at night as opposed to early morning runs earlier in the week.
This effort was probably the best my heel has felt in nearly a month. I was able to warm up relatively quickly as my heel loosened up well. During the run, I focused on each mile independent of each other. This continues to be the strategy I hope will serve me well during the marathon.
With my heel feeling a little better each day, the anticipation of the race continues to grow. With less than 10 days until the race, I find myself almost wishing away the upcoming week. I know the week will serve me well to continue the focus on my goal; however.
I recently learned that my dad will be able watch the marathon. It was a nice surprise. He’ll be there along with my oldest brother. Unfortunately, my daughter has a soccer tournament the same weekend, so Renee and the kids won’t be able to make the trip (my oldest son is still deciding whether he wants to go or not). I certainly hope he decides to join me, I definitely needed him to keep me upright after last year’s Prairie Fire marathon.
